Our undergraduate degree programs are designed to be customizable while providing a solid foundation in the biological sciences with an emphasis on organismal biology, ecology, and evolutionary biology.
Students may elect to complete one of the following undergraduate BIOS or EBIO degree plans:
- B.A. in Biological Sciences (BIOS)
- B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EBIO)
- B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EBIO)
- Minor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EBIO)
Graduates of these programs are highly competitive for admission into graduate and professional schools (e.g., medical school), as well as for positions in government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and environmental consulting. Our curriculum is designed to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Graduating EEB students have experience working in a collaborative setting to solve challenging problems using analytical tools. Furthermore, our graduates understand both the practice and the culture of science and the relationship between science and society..
Undergraduate courses include numerous opportunities for theoretical and applied learning, both locally and around the world. Undergraduates are important contributors to research in EEB laboratories, and many publish work conducted during their undergraduate experience in top journals. Students are encouraged to get involved in research at any stage in their degree program

Answers to questions about majors
Are the EEB majors well suited for pre-med students?
Yes. The compact, flexible requirements in the physical sciences, rigorous training in the life sciences, and flexible requirements in upper-level courses make these degrees an excellent choice for pre-med students.
Can I take a lab in BIOC and have it count for the EEB majors?
Yes. One of the 300 or 400 level labs can be a BIOC lab.
Are the tracks required for students?
No, they are optional.

Answers to questions about minors
Can I combine a minor in EEB with a BA or BS in EEB?
No. You can only get one of the three EEB degrees - BA, BS, or minor.
Can I combine a minor in EEB with a BA or BS in BCB?
Yes.
Can I combine a minor in EEB with a BA in Biological Sciences?
No. The BA in Biological Sciences cannot be combined with any degree in EEB or BCB.
Can I combine a minor in BCB with a BA or BS in EEB?
Yes.
